About Shelby Township, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Shelby Township, Michigan has its roots in the 19th century, as it was first opened for general land sales in 1819 and had organized as a township by 1827. An 1822 farmhouse still stands today as the town's oldest remaining building. The Clinton-Kalamazoo Canal, begun in 1838, was meant to bring prosperity to the region as it linked Mount Clemens on the Clinton River to the mouth of the Kalamazoo River, but construction was abandoned in 1843 when funds ran out. Today its ruins can be seen in River Bends Park and along 22 Mile Road.  Shelby Township currently has about 4,500 residents, many of whom are employed in the manufacturing industry.

Shelby Township has a humid continental climate typical of southeastern Michigan, with cold winters and moderate snowfall. Summer temperatures generally don't get too hot, and the weather in spring and fall is pleasant and mild. The town has two nature preserves, the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center and the Wilcox-Warnes Nature Sanctuary.  Annual community events include the Shelby Township Art Fair in August, which has numerous art-related activities as well as model sailboat races ,and the “Christmas Aglow” holiday event featuring caroling, a marshmallow roast, a tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Santa Claus.
